The Bellforge Arts Center is located on the site of the former Medfield State Hospital campus. Listed on the National and State Registers of Historic Places, the landmark Medfield State Hospital offers an inspiring legacy of innovation and healing. Join us for a special talk with the Medfield Town Historian, Richard DeSorgher, on the former hospital’s fascinating history.

The event will also feature paintings by artist Anne Bell Robb of various buildings on the Medfield State Hospital campus.

Richard DeSorgher was born and raised in Medfield, has been a member of its historical society, and served in many government commissions for the state of Massachusetts. He is the Medfield Town Historian and has written many books and articles, including a weekly newspaper column.

Anne Bell Robb is a Sherborn-based artist who has been painting portraits of houses and buildings throughout the past five decades. Raised on the spare clean lines of New England architecture, there is an innate simplicity and yet a very intimate quality reflected in her work.
