Kintsugi-inspired Pottery Repair Workshop

  • Farthest Star Sake 120 North Meadows Road Medfield, MA, 02052 United States (map)

Join us for a Hoamsy class inspired by Kintsugi, the ancient Japanese art of repairing broken pottery with gold!

In this workshop, we will smash ceramic pieces and then repair them with super glue and gold paint. Cracks and chips will be filled with gold paint, thus turning something broken into a beautiful piece of art. We plan to coat the cracks with two layers of paint, but if you don’t finish, we’ll send you home with gold paint to finish your project later.

Bowls will be provided, but you may bring a ceramic item (coffee cup/plate/pot) from home that is old/chipped/broken that you'd like to smash and repair instead.

Note: This experience is not Kintsugi in the traditional sense. You will be using gold paint instead of gold leaf, and other substitutions to make the experience affordable and decrease the session time that may not follow the traditional "Kintsugi" materials.
