The Windup Girl by Paulo Bacigalupi

A dystopian science fiction novel set in a near-future Thailand ravaged by climate change, depleted energy resources, and widespread famines caused by genetically engineered plagues. The story intertwines the fates of several characters navigating a complex world where "calories" are currency and corporations wield immense power, focusing on themes of genetic engineering, environmental collapse, and corporate greed.

If you get a chance, pick up a copy at your local library or wherever you get books, read ahead, and come prepared to discuss in our awesome taproom… or just come to chat about sci-fi, reading, or other stuff and make some new friends!
