On the first Thursday of every month, we partner with Medfield Public Library to host a sci-fi book club.
Player Piano,
by Kurt Vonnegut, Jr.
A dystopian satire set in a future America where automation has replaced most human labor, creating a society divided between a small elite of engineers and managers and a large, purposeless populace. The story follows engineer Paul Proteus as he becomes disillusioned with this machine-run world and joins a rebellion against the technocratic system, exploring themes of technology's impact on humanity, social inequality, and the search for meaning.
If you get a chance, pick up a copy at your local library or wherever you get books, read ahead, and come prepared to discuss in our awesome taproom… or just come to chat about sci-fi, reading, or other stuff and make some new friends!
Don’t forget to order some fresh, local sake at the bar to whet your whistle while you talk.
This is a recurring event, generally on the first Thursday of every month at 7 pm. Reach out to Amy to get on the mailing list for this book club.
